Sew Green is Sew Kewl

But really it is SEW COOL!

Alright well first of all.. is it just me! or is parking in downtown ithaca always just a little stressful... I can never tell where I should park/I hate paying the meters! I love my dang quarters :(

okay so after I parked! I took a nice little stroll until I wound up outside of Sew Green. I entered the store and just felt a sense of homieness... it was just very welcoming. There was a little girl looking around at all the pretty fabrics and she looked like she was in heaven! I introduced myself to the woman at the cashier. I explained I was a WISE student and what my plans were and that I knew Emma and Julia (who encouraged me to go to sew green in the first place). The womans name was Betsy and she was just such a sweet caring person, I honestly didn't want to leave, I could have stayed and talked with her for a while longer. She showed me some brochures and told me to contact Autumn Newell about taking some classes, as well as to come back next week when Wendy Skinner the store coordinator would be back in town. She said that Wendy would be the best person to ask about getting a sewing machine and which kind would work best for me.

After Betsy and I chatted I decided to take a walk around the store... and I totally stumbled upon some treasures!

This being on of those treasures!!! who doesn't love the "stuff as much as you can into this bag" deal! I of course couldn't help myself.....

These are some of the products I was able to stuff in my bag.. I figured it couldn't hurt to have some fabric at hand!
And finally! my favorite! SPOOLS OF LACE. I have no idea what, but I am most definitely incorporating lace into my project. There is something so beautiful and simple about lace. MMM :)

All in all it was a really great experience to meet Betsy and see the store. I can really see myself spending a lot of time there. I'm excited to get back there to speak with Wendy and Autumn :)

Thats all for now!

  1. Hey. Some quick ideas with lace. I know it's not much sewing involved, but if you want to start by doing simple things so you can get used to making stuff and using a machine, and you want to use lace, there are some cool looking things to do on pinterest. I copied a couple of cool sleeve modifications you could try. You could also do this on other parts of a shirt also. Just a thought.
